Kareaat Alfengan | Abdel Halim Hafez - Vinyl
Kareaat Alfengan (قارئة الفنجان), The Fortune Teller, is one of the most famous songs of Abdel Halim Hafez (عبد الحليم حافظ). It sets a poem by the Syrian poet Nizar Qabbani to music by Mohammed Al Mougy, and was first performed in 1976, the year before his death.
The song tells of a fortune teller reading a coffee cup and foreseeing a love that can never be reached. It is often considered his masterpiece and is essential for any Arabic vinyl collection.
